What are the deadlines?
The deadline for submitting short and feature films is August 15, 2018.

Do I need to meet a minimum age requirement to submit a film?
No, however, if you are under the age of 18 and your film is accepted, we will require signed, written permission from your parent or legal guardian before we are able to screen your film at the Festival.

Can I submit more than one film?
Yes, you can submit up to a maximum of three (3) films.

Can I submit more than one film to different sections?
Yes, however, please note that it’s not possible to submit the same film to different sections.

How old can my film/s be?
Not older than two (2) years before the start of the festival.

Do you accept re-submissions?
We will not consider previously submitted work unless it has been considerably re-edited or re-shot. If we have already viewed your film as a rough cut last year, we usually will not consider it for the following year.

My film doesnt have English subtitles. Is it OK?
All Non-English language works must have English subtitles. If your film is in English, then subtitles are not required.

My film is not ready yet, but I really want to submit it. What can I do?
We might consider rough cuts, but we cannot guarantee that programmers will be able to watch the completed film at a later date. Please consider this before submitting the rough cut and aim to have the final version ready by our deadline.

I have sent a wrong version of my film. What now?
No worries! Email us asap at with a link to the correct version.

Does my film have to be a premiere?
No, there is no premiere policy for the competing films.

What happens once I have submitted my film?
Relax and wait for us to contact you. We will give you a confirmation for the submission and, if we really like your film, we will get back to you at least 28 days before the festival with some good news.

I have submitted my film, but I havent received a confirmation yet. Why?
Please note that it may take some time for your submission to be fully processed by the Submissions Team. Please leave at least two weeks for your submission to be processed and confirmation to be sent. If you have not heard from us after two weeks, please get in touch –

How do you decide which films to show?
We value all genres of narratives, from comedy to drama and from thriller to sci-fi. We love to watch good stories; thought-provoking, daring and enlightening films. We fall for passionate works that entertain and empower their audience. We are looking for bold, experimental shorts that push the formal style to the limit. And, in general, for films with great ambitions and deep souls.

If my film is not selected, can I get an explanation on the decision or a feedback?
Unfortunately, Crossing The Screen cannot individually convey their deliberation.

Does the Festival offer screening fees to selected filmmakers?
Crossing The Screen doesn’t currently offer screening fees.

Why do you charge fees?

All the submission fees are meant to cover the administrative costs, external collaborators’ wages, and partners’ agreements.

How much does it cost to submit my film?
Please check our fees on the relevant Partner Platforms page (On the “Submit” Page).

Do you have early bird /late fees?
Yes. The deadline for the early bird feeds is March 01, 2018. The deadline for the regular fees is August 1, 2018. The deadline for the late fees (and final deadline) is August 15, 2018.

Do you offer concessions to students?
Yes, we do. Please check the relevant Partner Platforms page (On the “Submit” Page).

I am broke. Do you consider waiving fees?
We are currently offering fee-waivers ONLY for specific socio-political scenarios (e.g Iranian embargo). Being ‘broke’ is not one of them.

Can I get refunded if my film is not eligible or not selected?
No, Submission fees are non-refundable. Please read the rules carefully before submitting the film.
Submission does not guarantee the selection.
