Crossing The Screen 2017 – Staff and Jurors



Tim Marriott trained at The Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, after university.
He is perhaps best known for seven series of the BBC’s hit sitcom ‘The Brittas Empire’, appearing in each episode as ‘Gavin’.
He is soon to be seen in the comedy feature film ‘Love Type D’ as Malcom, a serial loser. Other credits include ‘Allo Allo’, ‘Luv’, ‘An Actors Life for Me’, ‘Doctors’, ‘The Main Event on TV’ and a wide range of West End and touring theatre.
He writes and directs and is an experienced teacher. He is currently Director of Drama at Eastbourne College.
Tim is also the Patron of Crossing The Screen International Film Festival.

Director/ Producer

Domenico is a lively member of Crossing the Screen team.
He is a freelance filmmaker interested in drama and documentary productions.
He was awarded a Master in Television and Video Production at Bournemouth University.
Having worked for almost 20 years in the live-event management industry, Domenico has a great passion, experience and skills as a producer of Cinema, Music and Sports events.
He’s committed to transforming Eastbourne into the new “Cannes” of the British Riviera.

Director/ Programmer

Manfredi is a filmmaker and film critic – a member of SNCCI and FIPRESCI.
He holds an MA in Film Making from the London Film School.
Since 2012, he has collaborated with international film festivals, working as a judge, coordinator, consultant and programmer. In 2014, he was an international consultant for the Beijing IFF and a member of the Jury for the official collateral “Nazareno Taddei” Award at the Venice IFF.
He is currently the Head of Short Programming of the Rome Independent FF and the Festival Director/ Programmer of Crossing The Screen.

Operations Manager

Melita graduated with a first class degree in French and German from the University of Oxford in 2016 and is now completing an MA degree in Film Studies at UCL. She founded the International Film Society at the University of Oxford in 2013 and has worked for Cinegraph Film Institute in the pre-programming phase of the 2015 edition of their annual film festival held in Hamburg every year. Melita has also worked in Communications for DDBº Paris and in Public Relations for the AlarmTheater in Bielefeld, Germany.
Melita is a Sussex girl, who grew up in Hastings and Eastbourne and is excited to see the cultural influx that Crossing The Screen is bringing to the town and the area as a whole and looks forward to making contact with local entrepreneurs to ensure that mutual benefits are met for both the festival and local residents.


Nicole Toksvig is a digital communications specialist, technical writer and filmmaker with over 20 years experience across the public & private sectors. Having started her career in information systems in Switzerland, she has helped organisations design communication strategies for both internal and external stakeholders.
In the UK, Nicole has developed digital communication products for the education Sector and is an experienced trainer and project manager.
Nicole has an MA in Media Practice from the University of Sussex and has a passion for documentary filmmaking. Now based in Eastbourne, she is interested in the development of new distribution networks for entrepreneurial creatives and brings her experience of digital campaigns to the Crossing the Screen team.


Amy is an award-winning literature producer, writer and artist based in Brighton, UK.
She was born in Austin, Texas in 1975 and grew up in a Mexican-American community. Amy studied history and literature at Sarah Lawrence College and Oxford University, and journalism at University of the Arts London.

Amy has worked in community development in the UK for over 10 years, and has over 15 years experience producing multi-art form projects with strong arts and cultural partners and networks.
She is the founder of Writing Our Legacy – a literature organisation focused on Black and ethnic minority writers and writing – and she is also the Programme Development Manager for Devonshire Collective.


Jan has spent 7 years studying Fine Art Painting at Great Yarmouth School of Art, St. Martin School of Art and the Royal College of Art, before becoming a qualified teacher. He has exhibited in the New Contemporaries at the ICA London as well as the Stowell’s Trophy at the Royal Academy and the Birley Centre in Eastbourne.
He has spent 10 years working as a prod. assistant in the West End Theatres and the Royal Opera House before embarking on a teaching career that spanned 20 years. During that time, Jan has led a double life developing Sports tourism and long-distance running in Nepal where he was responsible for the sponsorship, planning, media coverage and race directorship of the Everest Ultra, Annapurna 100k, Kathmandu Marathon, Annapurna Triathlon and Everest Marathon. He was also an outdoor pursuits consultant for Nike UK.
Jan now runs a fine art printmaking studio and makes music videos and short films in Eastbourne.


Aneta was born in Poland in 1989 and has worked in the Legal & Finance Industry in the UK over the past 5 years.
Despite her business and juridical background, Aneta’s multifaceted interests gave her a chance to take part in a variety of cultural, artistic and social activities. Over the past 10 years, she has collaborated with various associations to produce, coordinate and deliver a wide range of creative projects, which offered her an invaluable opportunity for personal development.
Having been born and brought up in a small village, with its rich tradition passed down from generation to generation by local storytellers, Aneta has soon developed a passion for storytelling and Cinema.
She is particularly interested in Documentary Filmmaking and is currently working on her first feature documentary project, which involves extensive researches on her own family and ancestors from the Polish village she comes from.


Zike was born in China in 1990. After graduating from the School of Animation and Media Art of the University of Communication, in China, she worked for a few years as a freelance graphic designer. In 2015 she enrolled in the Master of Experimental and Future Media Art of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, where she is currently completing her studies.
In 2017, she has been selected as an exchange student at the Dept of Media Art of the Hochschule für Gestaltung, in Karlsruhe, Germany. She has exhibited her works in different art galleries and media centres in China.
